In Othello's final monologue, he expresses his wish to have his story recorded. "Speak of me as I am," he says, imparting to his listeners the importance of avoiding exaggeration or oversight. He seems to want this in order to warn others about the powerful and manipulative force of jealousy; even a man as confident, trusting, and peaceful as himself could be reigned in by the corrupt emotion.
